Bulletin and Summon of Regular Stated Meeting (By Dispensation) April 18, 2017

Message from the East

WB ALYKHAN UMPA ALI
Worshipful Master

Brethren

First of all, let me extend my heartfelt gratitude to all brethren who supported me in the joint installation of lodges in the City of Iligan.  The installation ceremony presided by VW Stephen T. Monterroyo, PDGL as the installing Master was very impressive, assisted by WB Lester R. Salazar and WB Pat D. Noel.  The installation was also meaningful to me with the presence of the Grand Master, MW Voltaire T. Gazmin.

This month begins the journey of presiding Iligan Lodge No. 207.  I might be the shortest Master who will sit in the East with a stint of only nine (9) months, with your support we will make a difference.  We are preparing a three year development program for the lodge to ensure continuity of our works.  We will present this plan next meeting.  I am hoping that we could make a foundation to bring Iligan Lodge No. 207 the jewel of the district.

This month is also the Grand Lodge Annual Communication, April 27 - 29 at Tagaytay City.  Five brethren from Iligan Lodge No. 207 is set to attend the said event.  We urge others who have the time on this important activity of the Grand Lodge.

I wish we could do our 2017 celebration of lodge formation 42 years ago this month. However, the activity needs preparation especially it's also the Past Masters month.  We decided to move this event to May 20, 2017 to enable us to have substantial preparation.  The Worshipful Master and brethren is looking forward for the Past Masters who are in Iligan City to attend this memorable day.

Brethren your presence in our monthly meeting is a joy to me.  Please join us for a pleasant evening with the other brethren of the district.

Amusing Anecdotes

A Junior Deacon and a Visiting Brother

A Lodge in the National Capital Region was unexpectedly visited by a foreign Masonic dignitary.  The Junior Deacon told the Worshipful Master :  "Worshipful Master, there is an alarm at the door", and the Worshipful Master said, "Attend the alarm and report your findings".

When he opened the door, the Junior Deacon saw, to his amazement, a Brother impeccably clad with an elaborate apron and jewels.  The Tyler being slow in answering for the visiting Brother, the latter solemnly said,  "I am Brother John Smith, Past Master of my Lodge, Past Grand Master of Masons in our Grand Jurisdiction, Past Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite in the Northern Jurisdiction of the United States, York Rite Legion of Honor Awardee, and Imperial Potentate of Shrine Temples in North America.  I humbly request an audience with your Worshipful Master."

Hearing the visiting Brother's words and awed by his apron, jewels and titles, the Junior Deacon immediately closed the door, returned to his post, and said tremendously, "Worshipful Master, the Grand Architect of the Universe is at the door and desires admission into the Lodge!"

Keep it Under Your Hat

The Lodge had just opened.  As the Master looked around the Lodge room, he noticed a brother on the back row over in the southwest corner who was wearing a hat.   Not wanting to embarrass the brother, the Master called on the Senior Deacon to quietly ascertain why the brother was wearing a hat.  After  whispered conversation with the offending brother, the Senior Deacon reported back to the Master.  He said that the brother was overjoyed to be asked.  It was the third time he had attended that Lodge, and this was the first time anyone had spoken to him.  -  At Refreshment (1987) by Ill. 35th Charter Anniversary and Past Masters' Night

April 17, 2010, our monthly stated meeting went on smoothly as scheduled...attended by brethren from different lodges of our district plus the attendance of  Bro. Leo Acosta of  Macajalar Lodge No.184, Cagayan de Oro City who, by the way, religiously attends meetings when he is here in Iligan.

On this Stated Meeting,   we also celebrated our 35th Anniversary as a lodge which falls exactly on April 26.    Thirty five (35) years is quite a long time (of course not as long as 75 years which our mother lodge is celebrating this year!)
As we ended our stated meeting and gathered around the function hall to partake the food prepared for us, we realized that we have in our midst, in our roll of members, stalwarts who have guided us and groomed our lodge to what it has become.  And to give honor to these people, we rightfully opened with a toast...followed by another...until we completed the 7th and the last, the Tyler's Toast.

Tokens were given to the Past Masters, as shown in the pictures below.   Thirty five (35) candles on top of an anniversary cake, as well as individual candles on top of sliced cakes for the Past Masters, were blown.

As the night moved on, and the programmed activity heightened, scenes were captured by the lens of my olympus e-510 camera to be shared to everyone who wishes to witness and be a part of our 35th anniversary celebrations.
