Brethren, the month of June is a month of great meaning… it is the month of our independence as a country and a month when Iligan became a city.

Our beloved city celebrates yearly the Grand Triple Day kicking off on May 28 – the National Flag Day, followed by the Philippine   Independence Day on June 12 and culminating on Iligan’s Charter Day – June 16.  And as Freemasons, we have always been proud of the Masonic fraternity’s contribution to our emancipation from the cruelty that we experienced for more than 300 years.  It is but a small contribution now that we attend in the commemoration of the country’s independence.

I’d like to make mention that it makes me proud to say that the members of the International Order of DeMolay, Tomas L. Cabili Chapter led by its Master Councilor Brother DeMolay Jorge Agnila donated the Philippine Flag which was raised during the flag raising ceremony last May 28 on the occasion of our Philippine National Flag Day.  Patriotism is one of their seven cardinal virtues. 

Thank you JW Bro. Alykhan Ali for handling the Family Day held at Taytay Swimming Pool last May 30, 2015.  In attendance were the brethren together with their respective family : JW Alykhan, SW Ivan Banaag, IPM WB Ali Bari, Bro. Treasurer WB Jaime Magnetico, Bro. Beethoven Sales, who came all the way from Cagayan de Oro City; and, Bro. Ijay Sagario, who also came all the way from his camp in Kauswagan.  We missed the rest of our brethren who were caught up with their previous appointments and other commitments.  Hopefully we can do this at least another time before the end of the year. 

Prior to all these, last May 20, 2015, we attended the GLP TGR Workshop Seminar held in Cagayan de Oro City at MUST from 8:00 o’clock in the morning to 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon.   The seminar was compulsory for all WMs, SWs, JWs, Secretaries and GLI’s to take up the Edicts which was signed by our Grand Master of Masons, MW Tomas G. Rentoy during the 2015 Ancom held at Legazpi City.  Except for our Grand Lodge Inspector, VW Stephen Monterroyo, our lodge was well represented. 

And last but definitely not the least, during our last stated meeting held May 16, we balloted 5 petitioners.  We have proudly favored two in the person of Mr. Bryan Ted K. Yu and Mr. John Yasser T. Sanguila.  Congratulations to all of us!  We will be initiating them on our stated meeting come June 20, 2015.  The lodge of Master Masons will open at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.  

Brethren, with all the activities that we have undertaken, let us continue to support our beloved lodge, Iligan Lodge No. 207 most specially with our upcoming labors.  Be present!  Be counted!  Be active!

Thank you Brethren for the successful celebration of our 40^th Ruby anniversary last April 14.  Though there were a few of our  members who were out due to very important appointments, the affair was fun and well participated. We missed some of our past masters though, but it doesn’t mean they’re forgotten, they were just on vacation.  They are just busy with other previously arranged commitments.

Thanks too, to all brethren from other lodges who took their time and joined us in our celebrations.  Thanks to WB Oskie for the lechon, WB Ronald Sy for the ice cream, VW Henry Dy & Bro. Sandy Sy for the  Labels, WB Abel for the additional food.  To WB Victor Mariano for taking care of the affair by being our Master of Ceremony.  And for the sponsors of the Gift Certificate raffled off, namely: The Homebrew Café, JY Dimsum, and Marianos Home-cooked Specialties.  To VW Warly Sanguila for taking care of the rest of the program… the ceremonial toast.   With special thanks to my wife, Binky, for helping in the preparation.

It seems like only yesterday that we were in Legazpi City, Albay for the recently concluded 2015 Ancom.  My heartfelt appreciation to the members of Iligan Lodge No. 207 who were present –   VW Angelo Rentoy, WB Ronald Sy, WB Ali Bari, WB Ferdinand  Bartolome, SW Bro. Ivan Banaag and yours truly.  The district was well represented and we would like to take this opportunity to extend our congratulations to VW Ian Uy, our new District Deputy Grand Master for RX-D & ARMM (Lanao), VW Kuya Jing Rahon, VW Omarbasha Lucman and VW Allan Buenaventura, our new District Grand Lecturers.  The event was well attended and was managed well.  The hosts were also very accommodating, the honorable Mayor VW Noel Rosal, IPDDGM was present at the airport bidding farewell to all who attended.  Congratulations to the newly installed Grand Lodge Officer led by our Grand Master of Masons, MW Tomas Rentoy, RW Voltaire Gazmin, Deputy Grand Master, RW Abraham Tolentino, Senior Grand Warden and the newly elected Grand Junior Warden RW USec Romeo Momo.

May is the month of flowers.  The 2^nd Sunday of May is also celebrated world-wide as Mother’s Day.  Let me take this chance to extend my warmest greetings of “Happy Mother’s Day” to all Mothers and would-be Mothers not just in our Lodge but in the entire Masonic sphere.  Brethren, extend our heartfelt wishes of love and affection to our better half.  May God continue to bless all Mothers whithersoever dispersed.  Happy Mother’s Day Ateng!

Bulletin and Summon of Regular Stated Meeting (with Dispensation) April 14, 2015

Brethren, thank you very much for your attendance in our March stated meeting.  It was a pleasure seeing you in attendance.

The month of April has two (2) very important events for our lodge and for each of us as members.  First is the celebration of our 40th Founding anniversary.  Forty (40) years had passed since we first became into being.  We were born through the efforts  of  our founding elders,  led by our charter  Worshipful  Master  WB  Gerardo Padilla.   There were 38 of them then and only 5 survived, namely, Bro.  Victor Bacalso, WB  Wilfredo Bacareza,  Bro. Manaros Boransing,  VW Henry Dy and WB Voltaire  Rovira.   With  dignity,  honor  and fondness,  let us give recognition to them.  And from 1975 to 2015, 39 past masters have served our worshipful lodge, most are still very much active.  Others have journeyed to the place where no traveler ever returned.  To all of them, our gratitude for creating such worthy and outstanding lodge in this part of the district.

Second activity that is also of great importance is the upcoming AnCom to be held at Legazpi City on April 23 – 25, 2015.  Brethren, let us try to be present and be accounted during the event.  Let us meet new and old members, create new friends, listen to our elders council during gatherings, break bread, join fellowship.  Please inform our brother Senior Warden, Bro. Ivan J. Banaag if you’re joining so we’ll know how many we have to account for. Let me inform the brethren though that there might be a chance that we can not vote this coming election for the GJW because of the requirement for each lodge to pay the 2015 GLP requirements.  As per consultation with our District Deputy Grand Master, we are to meet prior to our departure for the AnCom to discuss this matter.  And for our lodge, we can not pay said requirement because it will exhaust all our funds, thereby endangering other commitments that we previously have.

Our trestleboard is full of those who desire to be part of our ancient fraternity.  Sad to say that one feels that he is above and beyond reach of the lodge that he cast a black cube.  Are we going to     sacrifice the future of our lodge because of one member who feels that he has to be personally convinced to cast the white ball setting aside the favorable report of the investigators?

And lastly, we have set our stated meeting ahead of time because of two reasons –  1) I  will  be out of  town on April 18 to attend a        scheduled family reunion in Cebu which I have to be present; 2) I want to be around with you all  during our stated meetings if  and when possible,  specially on our 40th charter anniversary.  

 

Once again brethren, looking brightly forward for your support and presence during our stated meeting on April 14 (Tuesday) at 5:30 in the afternoon, for the future of our craft in general and of our lodge in particular.  Masonic Education speaker will be Col. Alexander O. Noble (Ret.) who will shed light on the issues of Federalism.  With open minds, let us listen without judgment to others.
